Day excursion into the Moremi Game Reserve
Day 1: Xakanaxa, Okavango Delta
Drive Maun – Xakanaxa (150 km, 4 hour drive)
Your PENDUKA guide will meet you at your hotel in Maun at 06h00. (please arrange breakfast pack with your hotel)
We make an early start and drive through traditional villages before crossing the buffalo fence, announcing our arrival in game country. We drive through a wildlife concession where we will see our first animals, like impala and giraffe. We enter Moremi Wildlife Reserve through Maquee gate.
After a coffee and tea break our game drive takes us on a scenic route through ever changing landscape, Mopane forest, to open floodplains or lagoons.
A large variety of game can be found along the rivers and floodplains of the Okavango, herds of red lechwe, buffalo and hippo are commonly seen. During midday we may encounter some breeding herds of elephants coming to drink along the rivers. Moremi is well known for its wild dog population; lions, leopard and cheetah are also frequently seen. We have picnic lunch under shady trees along.
Game drive after lunch before heading back to Maun to arrive back at your hotel at around 18h00.
