Your Itinerary

Day 1

Your Penduka guide will meet you at Maun airport and we set off immediately and head north to Nguma island. 

We reach our campsite set under the towering Mangostein trees in time for a late lunch. 

Afternoon at leisure, before sundowners and dinner are enjoyed under the stars.

Day 2

A 45 min. motorboat transfers us through a maze of channels to the open floodplains of the Mokoro Island area. Here you meet the polers of the mokoros (dugout canoes), and spend the day in the tranquil waters of the Okavango, moving along papyrus-fringed channels with your poler. A game walk and picnic lunch is included during the day. Return to campsite for dinner.

Day 3

We depart Ngumafor a day excursion to Tsodillo Hills where hundreds of bushman paintings can be seen. We continue towards Shakawe to arrive at our campsite at Drotsky’s Cabins. The Okavango River is at its widest in this area. A walk down to the river from the campsite offers the opportunity of bird watching. An abundance of bird life nest in the high papyrus fringing the river’s edge and we look out for the shy Sitatunga antelope that live here, and feed off the papyrus.

Day 4

Spend a leisurely, relaxed day along the Okavango River. Enjoy a morning’s boating excursion on the Okavango River. Sundowners back at our camp around the campfire before dinner is served.

Day 5 & 6

Today we cross the border into Namibia at Mohembo and spend some time in Mahango National Park before continuing to Divundu. After refueling we make a short visit to Popa Falls. (a large rapid on the Okavango river) Lunch is served en route to Kongola. We arrive at BwabataNational Park in the early afternoon, where we spend two nights exploring the area. Early morning and afternoon drives along the Kwando River and adjacent Teak forest should reveal the large herds of wildlife. Sundowners enjoyed at the horseshoe loop.

Day 7

We make an early start and travel via KatimaMulilo to Kasane to clear customs at the border before spending the rest of the day enjoying the magnificent Victoria Falls and surroundings. Ilala Lodge with its thatched roof remains a favourite amongst Victoria Falls visitors as it is the closest Lodge to the mighty Victoria Falls and to the banks, post office, African craft village and curio shops. All of the rooms have en suite facilities with air-conditioning. The lodge has a magnificent pool that has a large wooden deck that overlooks the Victoria Falls National Park.

Day 8

You will have opportunity to enjoy a number of optional excursions after breakfast.

 

- A full day or half day’s exhilarating white water rafting on the gorges below the falls.

- A full day or a half-day’s canoeing and walking trails on the upper Zambezi.

- Afternoon cruise on the Zambezi River

- A visit to a traditional village

- Micro lighting or a helicopter flight over the Zambezi

- Clients preferring to explore the Falls again, can do so at leisure.

Day 9

After breakfast we leave Victoria Falls and clear customs at the Kasane Border. We will enter the Chobe National Park, and we should see the breeding herds of elephant and large herds of buffalo for which this park is famous.   Set up camp and enjoy game drives along the length of the Chobe River.

Day 10

Enjoy game drives in the Park and stand the change to perhaps see a lion kill or a big herd of buffalo. During the afternoon a boating excursion on the Chobe River offers a new dimension to game viewing.

Day 11

We leaveChobe and our route takes us on an interesting day’s drive northwards to Savuti. The Savuti channel started flowing again in 2009, and since 2010 the Savuti marsh filled up with water again, after been dry since 1980. An abundance of game like elephant, buffalo, wildebeest and zebra can be seen.

The eastern side of the marsh is also popular with shy antelope like the roan, sable and eland. We stop en route for lunch.  A game drive through forest and a few scattered hills bring us to our campsite.

Day 12

We depart on an early morning drive in search of the Savuti predators. Savuti has been host to most of the amazing wildlife documentaries filmed in the last 25 years. Many of those documentaries have been about the merciless competition between the different predatorsespecially lions vs. hyena. Bull elephants also frequent the area.Savuti also has a few rocky outcrops enabling us to see the Klipspringer antelope. There is also a small collection of Bushmen rock art. Morning and afternoon game drives with leisure time to relax during the heat of the day.

Day 13

We break down camp and continue to Khwai. Today is a long day, serious 4x4 driving through incredibly thick sand. The vegetation is mainly low thick Mopane forest with a lot of elephant activity. We cross the western edge of the Mababe depression, an area excellent for plains game, during the summer months the zebra migration can be seen here. With lunch en route we will arrive at North Gate in the late afternoon.

Day 14

Early morning and afternoon game drives exploring the Khwai River area should reveal a variety of game.KhwaiRiver is the northeastern side of the Okavango delta and has beautiful floodplains; large hippo pools support a large variety of wildlife including all the predators. Leisure time to relax in camp during the heat of the day.

Day 15

After early breakfast we will slowly make our way out of the Moremi game Reserve back to Maun in time to catch your outbound flight.
