Picnic lunch en-route. Lochinvar is a small reserve on the Kafue floodplains known for its herds of Kafue and Lechwe, approximately 80 000 roam the plains. Big herds of Buffalo, Zebra and Wildebeest can also be seen. This is also a place where the shy Oribi is frequently spotted. An incredible number and variety of birds live in this area along the plains and lagoon. We set up camp in the later afternoon and enjoy our first evening under the Zambian sky.
The next day is spent game driving and walking out on the plains, exploring the fascinating wildlife of this area. In the afternoon we drive to the Gwisho hot springs – well known for its beautiful sunsets overlooking massive plains.

After breakfast we break down camp, leave Lochinvar and drive to Mumbwa along river tributaries of the Kafue river. Once in Mumba we buy some supplies from the local market and if time permits enjoy a drink at a local bar. Traveling Westwards towards Southern Kafue National Park we soon traverse beautiful forests with an abundance of unique bird life. In the afternoon we travel over massive flood planes with giant Borasses Palm islands. We set up camp overlooking the lake. Overnight Ithezi Thezi.
